No, the bird spikes are uncomfortable to a bird but not overly painful. The discomfort is great enough to make any bird not roost on them
I have pigeons perching on my windowsill
Spikes are ideal for this purpose and the spikes should be placed on the window sill itself assuming that the window opens inwards or upwards. If the window opens outwards it will be necessary to attach the spikes on the base of the window frame so that when the window is opened the spikes move outwards as the window does. Silicone should be used to attach the spikes to the window frame but if the window frame is wooden they can be screwed in place as well and/or instead of, using silicone.
I think I have pigeons nesting in my gutter
It is rare for pigeons to nest in a gutter unless the gutter is well protected from the elements. It is possible, however, particularly in guttering on old Victorian style properties. This problem is simple to resolve using Spikes in conjunction with the Gutter Clips. The Spikes will not only stop pigeons nesting in the gutter but also stop pigeons perching on the lip of the gutter and fouling areas below the gutter.
I’m not sure how big a pigeon problem I have. All I can see is a build up of pigeon droppings on the floor?
Look up at the building above. If you do this at dusk you will be able to see all the nuisance pigeons on the various ledges that will require pigeon repellent spikes.
How easy is it to install Bird spikes?
Very easy,. If you can use a ladder to clean a window then you'll be able to install the spike strips. If you're not confident with a ladder you do not necessarily need a pigeon pest control expert; simply show the installation guide to a local window cleaner or handyman, providing you supply the spikes they'll be more than willing to install them for a few pounds.
Which product is best to control pigeons, the plastic or steel spikes?
Both the plastic bird spike and the stainless steel bird spike will remove pigeons just as well as each other. The only difference being that the stainless steel spike is slightly less visible.
I can’t see the answer to my question, what can I do?
